Entry from the carport leads to the guesthouse on the left, with a complete kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom suite. With a broad balcony with dining set, this home within a home well suits visiting friends and family. The guest balcony has views to the Atlantic and Jost van Dyke to the north, and the sound of waves breaking on Smuggler’s Beach will be the soundtrack to relaxing morning coffees.
Across the expansive stone terrace that surrounds the pool is an outdoor seating area and the main house. The Pool Terrace is the centre of activity for Summersalt, and offers an abundance of lounge chairs, a fire-pit, outdoor shower, bespoke stainless BBQ grill, umbrella shades, and a cocktail area.
The open-air dining table is custom crafted from tropical hardwoods and finished to shining gloss, can easily hold ten guests. The breezy dining area is very near to the professional kitchen, pantry and laundry room. A large living area is framed by windows and French Doors facing the view of the Cove, the Atlantic and beyond. There is a short passageway to the Master Bed with ensuite bathroom, and of course a private outdoor shower framed in native stone, with views of the sea and exotic Caribbean flora.
A varnished wooden stairway leads down from the main living area to the two bedroom suites below. These two large bedrooms share a bathroom with shower, and have glass doors and arched windows opening onto the tropical gardens that surround the property.
Modern and updated amenities are plentiful in Summersalt and include air conditioning throughout, a large SmartTV in the living area, modern kitchen appliances, washer and dryer, and a standby generator that runs on environmentally friendly propane fuel. The furnishings are custom made and recently updated, and include deep chairs that can unfold into small beds for holiday visitors and sleepover parties.
Summersalt Villa is secluded and quiet but not remote. A quick walk down a footpath that traverses the gardens is Smuggler’s Cove Beach, one of the prettiest beaches in Tortola. There are two rustic beach bars here that will transport a guest back in time with their friendly and home-made offerings. A short drive down the narrow roads of this private estate will carry you to Long Bay Resort and the other eateries that abound along the North Shore of Tortola. In the opposite direction and less than a mile away in Sopers Hole are marinas, a ferry terminal with service to St Thomas and Jost van Dyke, and restaurants and a fine supermarket.
